The Inevitable Foreknowledge of Death
Growing up on television and film of the Seventies - wherein fictional psychics in sci-fi dramas would gain insights into fates of people with whom they have physical contact - lodged this idea into my head. Whenever I bump into, brush up against or otherwise make contact with another human being I always think “Now I know how they’re going to die!” I mean, not really, but I always think about how in a tv show that contact would mean I would know how they’re going to die. It’s a complicated way to go about things.
